If you've been following our news, you will know that a new project has started this year with the aim of preserving the craft of coracles and coraclemaking, rated as endangered on the Heritage Crafts Association's Red List, for future generations to enjoy.
The first part of this project has been the building of Shrewsbury coracles and the creation of an instructional 'how to' video, by Society member Dave Purvis and the members of the Shrewsbury Men's Shed. This took place earlier this summer with some of the team involved going to the UK Men's Shed Association's annual ShedFest earlier this month to showcase their efforts and present a preview of the newly produced video.
We are delighted to be able to share the finished video, which is now available freely on our YouTube channel - please share far and wide and perhaps this might inspire you to having a go at making your own Shrewsbury coracle!
Thanks to the Heritage Crafts Association for providing funding towards this project, Shrewsbury Men's Shed, and Virtual Shropshire for creating this video
