Safety on the water

Children on the water at PortsoyWhile using coracles can be enjoyable, the nature of the craft can make it a dangerous activity to participate in.

The Society has published guidelines which we strongly recommend are followed by those who go out on the water.

A copy of these guidelines is available to download at the bottom of this page.

In addition to these safety guidelines, it is strongly advised you make yourself aware of the dangers of water quality, in particular Weils Disease. For more information on water quality and Weils Disease, please visit the British Canoe Union website (link will open in a new window.
